There is room for 32 players signups in this 1v1 challenge and 2 brand new Killer Xeno Pro networking card worth about (~225€) are ready and waiting for the top 2 finishers. In the Clanbase featured cup: Quake Live 1v1 Duel ION

 theSGL CSS Season 10 Invite/Prem completed

Sunday the 29th of June the last group matches of the theSGL CSS Season 10 Invite/Prem were played. The GECLAN from the UK were crushed by Life is over now(LION) from Hungary with 16-3 and Imageless from UK/IE beat Neurotic from Hungary. With this outcome LION took over the 1st spot and ION dropped to the 4rd place. The nr1 team LION is thereby immediately promoted to the Invite league for next season. Nr 2 till 5, including ION.CSS will battle it out in a playoff for the last remaining ticket to get promoted.

QuakeCon 2009 Announced

QuakeCon the yearly id software event has been announced for this year. Location for the event will be Gaylord Texan in the USA and the event will take place between 13-16th of August 2009. QuakeCOn is one of the biggest "Bring your own computer" LANs in North America (3000 gamers) with pro tournaments rewarded with large amounts of cash.

Early details report that the tournament will include the CTF and Quake Live Duel mode.
Statement id software : "In addition to the pro tournament prize money, more than $60,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded to lucky attendees through various contests and drawings, and every day of QuakeCon will be packed with activities, announcements and parties."

Eventhough we had many applications thusfar, the selection period has not ended. Therefore ION is still looking for players and/or teams in the following games:
Call of Duty 4
FIFA09
Please contact JiMmY|ION regarding Call of Duty 4 and StrydeR|ION regarding FIFA09 in #clanion @quakenet, or leave a message on our forum. Requirements are obviously activity, good rep and a decent history in the game for which you would like to represent us. Unknown teams from every nationality are welcome to apply as long as the potential is there.

This weekend the ION.CSS team attends the Sörnäisten Pelitalo Kesäkuu LAN 2009 in the capital of Finland: Helsinki. Along Counter Strike: Source, also CoD4,CS1.6,DotA will be played at this tournament
Besides that it is considered as a good preparation to meet and compete with the teams they normally only meet online, a ticket into the PRO competition of the Summer Assebmly LAN 2009 can be earned by attending teams.
ION is placed in group A, together with eXistence, Team Celsus and Team Menace. Group B contains 3 Colas, Neitsyt Gaming, knightriders and Double Trouble
The ION.CSS line-up for this LAN is as followed:

Combined with the release of the new map Quaraintine for Quake Live, id Software also implemented some adjustments and fixes for the game:
fixes :
- Siberia (qzctf8 ) - Adjusted the item layout to reduce a defense's ability to lock down the base.
- Furious Heights (qztourney7) - Geometry changes for competitive play.
- Scornforge (qzteam4) - Fixed an exploit.
- Space Chamber (qzdm18 ) - Fixed an exploit.
Statement Quake Live staff to sk-gaming : "Over the past 6 weeks we've brought 6 new arenas to QUAKE LIVE that span all game types and sizes, and include both totally new and classic or highly requested arenas. We hope you enjoy the extra hours of fun and we look forward to bringing more to you in the future. While we've been rolling out these arenas, we've been working on a number of other features and updates that we're looking forward to releasing over the next several weeks. Look for a developer blog later in the week with a more detailed progress update on Mac/Linux, private servers, competition features, leaderboards, and other changes that are all on the horizon."

Tonight ION.QL faces Mors Ultima Ratio (M) from France in their 3rd group match on the CB Quake Live 4v4 TDM, followed by their last group match on thursday versus Trufa from Spain. A victory over M tonight will strengthen their hold on the nr1 position and make a spot in the playoffs a certainty with just one more match to go.

Furthermore, on ESL, ION.QL passed the groupstage and were placed in the playoffs of the Quake Live CA 5on5 Grand Opening Cup. With 4 matches played, 3 wins, 1 loss, the team are awaiting the rest of the groupmatches to be finished. The last group match vs Porto LP eSports was cancelled as they were removed from the cup due to inactivity.
